Managing Roles

Roles in Corvus are defined at the commissioning stage and are determined by your existing Organisational structure. Role configuration can be completed and managed on site as there may be required updates
over time to ensure the data is correct, these edits will be performed by your Site Administrator.

  • Manage Roles can be found via the Data Administration Tab, ensure Personnel / Security is selected and click Manage Roles:

Role Example

When roles are configured for your site, they are created in the system and assigned the associated parent, this starts to form the Hierarchy of the Organisational Structure. For example, based on the provided Role
Structure, Superintendent Maintenance Field is required for configuration. Superintendent Maintenance Field is at the top of the hierarchy for this particular role segment, which has child roles associated such as Supervisor Maintenance Field A, B, C and D crew.

These child Roles all report to the parent Role of Superintendent Maintenance Field.

  1. Superintendent Maintenance Field is initially created in the System and is assigned the Parent of which it reports to in the Role Hierarchy Structure of the Organisation:

  1. Supervisor Maintenance Field A, B, C and D crew become created in the System and are assigned the Superintendent Maintenance Field as a Parent:

This then forms the Role Structure for the Superintendent Maintenance Field and the reporting Supervisors:

Once this has been configured and finalised for your site, only updates will be required as deemed necessary. Based on the above example, it is important for this data to be kept up to date and maintained or the Role Structure will be incorrect.

Adding or Editing Roles

To Create a New Role:

  1. Select the Data Administration tab
  2. Ensure Personnel / Security is selected
  3. Select Manage Org Units
  • A list of existing Roles will display. Please note: to avoid duplicate Roles created in the system, search the required role to verify it doesn’t already exist
  1. Select New

  2. Update the details based on the Role Hierarchy

  3. Select Save

To Edit a Role:

  1. Follow steps as per To Create a New Role
  2. Search for the existing Role you wish to edit
  3. Select the record
  4. Using the drop downs and editable fields, insert update
  5. Select Save

Deleting an Organisational Role

If a Role is no longer applicable to your site, for example a corporate restructure has dissolved that position, the role can be deactivated.

The Organisational Role is not actually deleted, as all data must be retained in Corvus for historical reporting purposes, but it will no longer be available for assigning to an individual Personnel record.
